we explore limitation not as a hindrance, but as a poetic structure—a way to invent new forms of expression when the old ones no longer serve freedom. through extremely simple analog tool-making, experimental typography, and basic digital methods, we ask: How does language carry memory, protest, and spirit. what happens when type breaks free from legibility and becomes ritual, resistance, or a whisper only some can hear. embracing mistakes and nonlinear design processes, this workshop invites you to invent a personal system of writing/making—born from constraint, guided by intuition, and shaped by the unseen. between silence and sound, between history and imagination, lies a new typographic tongue. our objective and subjective perceptions of a text are always defined within the common frameworks of language. therefore, the subject of type/design and typography, which is tied to the topic of language and its cultural and historical backgrounds and context, is generally considered as a tool for reading the information. the function of type is limited to these common frameworks and definitions regarding the construction and arrangement of letters, and as a result, typing is always at the service of the text and the information contained in it.
this project is an opportunity and an exercise to challenge the role of type and typography from unusual, experiential and meta-linguistic directions. inventing and disrupting the structure of reading text, the help of the phenomena and events in it, and with our new experiments, transform them into typographic narratives. also, apart from the obviousness about the endless potential of Persian typing, I try to look for very simple, personal, meaningful, and profound solutions through another lens for narrating, writing, thinking, and feeling through typing. examining the relationship between language, translation, and typography, highlighting how meaning evolves and fragments when crossing linguistic and cultural boundaries. translation is framed as a creative process filled with inevitable ambiguities, which can open up new possibilities for interpretation. typography is presented as a medium capable of breaking away from linear, functional reading, instead offering non-linear, multi-layered narratives. this approach emphasizes the visual and conceptual potential of language, suggesting that type can go beyond facilitating reading to become a tool for slowing down perception and fostering deeper reflection.
